This Pumpkin Carving contest box includes 3 wax pumpkin models for you to modify, carve and play with and 2 casting credits (enough to cast one pumpkin model in sterling silver).

Wax carving can be easily done with a wax carving pen, or you can use the candle flame to heat up an x-acto knife, sewing needle, paper clip, hairpin or anything else you can think of that can be easily heated.

Remember, the end result is not the goal. It is the playtime itself that matters the most.

3. Carve the Outline
   Begin by lightly tracing your design onto the wax with the warm needle. Start with simple shapes and lines. Since the needle is thin, it allows for precision, so you can create intricate patterns and details. Reheat the needle as needed to keep the wax soft.

   Once your outline is in place, go back over the lines to deepen them. Press the needle slightly harder this time to carve out more wax, creating grooves and textures. The warmed needle will glide more easily, giving you control over the depth and width of your cuts.

   Use the needle to add finer details, like facial expressions, swirls, or tiny textures. For more elaborate designs, you can carefully melt away small sections of wax by holding the needle in place longer or angling it for varied depths.

6. Smooth the Edges
   If you want to smooth out any rough edges or sharpen the details, lightly heat the carved area with the flame (without touching it directly) and gently reshape with the needle.

7. Finishing Touches

8. Cool and Display
